While Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan completed 25 passes
for 369 yards, wide receiver Julio Jones had only one catch for 30 yards Sunday
against the Carolina Panthers. The team had an explanation for the receiver’s disappointing
output, as offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter told reporters, including Dan Hanzus
of NFL.com, that Jones is dealing with the effects of a lacerated hand:
"He still had eight targets. That's a fair number; it just didn't work out," Koetter said. "Eight targets and one catch is not a good percentage. Julio's hand is not 100 percent. Credit him for playing and running his routes hard. But there's no doubt, (as) we've seen him in some earlier games this year, when he's 100 percent he will be even more effective."
Jones sustained the injury during the Falcons’ week 3
contest against the San Diego Chargers. The injury isn’t expected to cause the
23-year-old to miss games, but it could impact his production.
