New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes injured his footduring the fourth quarter of Sunday’s ugly loss to the San Francisco 49ers. He
was diagnosed with a Lisfranc injury yesterday and will “almost certainly” miss
the remainder of the season, reports Albert Breer of NFL.com:
New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes has a Lisfranc injury and is almost certainly out for the year, according to a team source.
Holmes and the Jets received multiple opinions on the injury
to his left foot. While it’s unclear if he has sustained a break, it does look
like he’ll be out for the rest of the 2012-13 campaign. New York should have a
final answer today.
It would be a huge blow to a Jets team that’s struggled to
put points on the board thus far since week 1. Holmes is the team’s only
veteran receiver, and he has more receptions this season (20) than the two wide
outs behind him on the depth chart combined; Jeremy Kerley (10) and Chaz
Schilens (6).
