The Pittsburgh Steelers won't have Ben Roethlisberger against the Batlimore Raven Sunday, but they should have Rashard Mendenhall. Mendenhall has been out with an achilles injury, but he is ready to go.
Chris Adamski of CBS Sports says Mendenhall is listed as probable for this Sunday's game. He says the Steelers' running back has suffered no setbacks in his recovery and is ready to go. Mendenhall had not practiced for two weeks leading up this week. However, after being able to practice fully this entire week, Mendenhall will be able to help the team get over the loss of Roethlisberger.
Mendenhall is in his fifth NFL season - all with the Steelers. He has been a productive back in the NFL in each of the last three seasons. So far this season, Mendenhall has only played in two games. He has averaged almost 65 yards per game in his career.
The Steelers got news earlier this week that Roethlisberger's strained shoulder was the least of the quarterback's worries. He was diagnosed with a dislocated rib. The rib is in such a position that one big hit could cause it to lacerate his aorta. He will not be allowed to play until the rib has healed enough. That being said, the Steelers will almost certainly rely on their defense and ground game. Mendenhall will help with the latter.
