The Arizona Cardinals have placed quarterback Kevin Kolb on
injured reserve, ending his season, and named quarterback Ryan Lindley as their
starter for this weekend’s matchup against the Detroit Lions, reports GreggRosenthal of NFL.com.

The team announced Wednesday that Kolb was placed on season-ending injured reserve. He showed flashes of promise in six outings this year (five starts), helping the Cardinals get off to a 4-2 record.
It’s hard to believe the Cardinals were a 4-0 team in parts
due to the efforts of Kolb. However, it’s an entirely new season at this point,
and Kolb will no longer be a part of it as the team has placed him on
season-ending IR.
Arizona believed Kolb would be able to recover and get to
the point where he was able to return for the end of the season, but he
recently experienced a setback to his rib injury.
Kolb is in the final year of his contract and is set to hit
the free agent market. He wasn’t overly impressive this season, but available
quarterbacks are likely to be few and far between this coming offseason.
