A new era has begun in Kansas City, as the Chiefs signed
Andy Reid as their new head coach and announced that they’d be parting ways
with general manager Scott Pioli, reports Dan Hanzus of NFL.com.
The Kansas City Chiefs made it official Friday night, finalizing a deal to make Andy Reid their new head coach.
The Chiefs provided visual proof by tweeting out an image of a mustachioed man with beefy hands signing what we presume to be a contract. Romeo Crennel and Scott Pioli are out. Reid is in. A new era in Chiefs football.
Reid signed a five-year contract with the Chiefs, which will
be announced during a press conference on Monday.
The signing of Reid ultimately seemed to result in the end
of Pioli’s run in Kansas City. Throughout the negotiation process, it became
clear that Reid wanted to bring Tom Heckert in to be the man upstairs if he
signed with the Chiefs. When he did, that left no room for Pioli, whose disappointing
tenure in KC came to an end.
