The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to seek permission from
the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday to interview offensive coordinator Jay Gruden
for their head coaching vacancy, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The Eagles are expected to seek permission from the Bengals on Monday to talk to their offensive coordinator, Jay Gruden, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.
The Bengals lost to the Houston Texans yesterday in the Wild
Card round of the playoffs, so an interview could come sooner than later if
Cincinnati gives the green light.
Eagles’ fans had been hoping the team would land a Gruden
this offseason, but they were aiming for Jay’s older brother Jon. Jay has been
the Bengals’ offensive coordinator over the past two seasons, pairing with quarterback
Andy Dalton to lead a successful unit. The 45-year-old has 10 seasons of
coaching experience, both in the NFL and the AFL.
