Vikings Injury Report: Jared Allen Will Have Shoulder Surgery

Kareem Copeland of nfl.com reports that Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen will need surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder.

"My inside game wasn't as good as I would have liked for it to have been just because I really didn't have as much power in my hump", Allen said. "But you fight through it and you're never fully healthy. I'll get it cleaned up."
Allen has been fighting through this injury for the greater part of the season. Copeland reports that Allen was first placed on the injury list on November 9, but decided to play through the pain.

While Allen was able to get to the quarterback 22 times in 2011, he was only able to get passed the O-line and sack the quarterback 12 times in 2012.

Allen's importance to the Vikings cannot be understated. He has led Minnesota in sacks every year that he's been with the team.

Jared was acquired by the Vikes in 2008.
