Redskins QB Robert Griffin III Set for Surgery

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is slated to undergo surgery to repair partial tears to his ACL and LCL tomorrow, according to Jeff Darlington of NFL.com.

Darlington added that the team won’t know the extent of the injuries until after the procedure is conducted. At that point the Redskins will have a better idea of a timeframe for recovery.

Griffin sustained his injuries in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s Wild Card playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Coach Mike Shanahan told reporters yesterday that it’s now believed that the injury took place during a play just before Griffin went down for good while trying to recover an errant snap. He ultimately had to be replaced by backup Kirk Cousins.
