Panthers and Rivera to Meet Saturday

The Carolina Panthers' owner Jerry Richardson and Head Coach Ron Rivera will meet on Saturday to discuss plans for the future, reports Gregg Rosenthal of nfl.com

Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer reports that the Carolina Panthers "have not lost ground to the seven teams that let their coaches go Monday."

It is unclear whether Rivera's job is in jeopardy, but the Panthers are going to take a long, hard look at where he stands with the team. If Rivera is let go, Carolina could look at Oregon Coach Chip Kelly to take over the team in 2013.

If I was the Panthers' owner, I would cut ties with Rivera, and Pursue Chip Kelly. Chip Kelly's offensive scheme would fit perfectly with the talent that this organization has. Cam Newton is an NFL QB who plays with a college style, so he and Kelly would be a perfect match.

In two seasons with the Panthers, Rivera has a 13-19 record; he can thank his superstar QB Cam Newton for all 13 of those wins. Without 'SuperCam', the Panthers would probably have only seven or eight wins in the last two seasons.
