Whilst the multi-million dollar contract handed out to Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco is deserved and maintains Flacco as the franchise player for the next ten years much like contemporaries Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers. The proliferation of wealth to one star player does mean that unsung players due for contract reappraisal may be neglected.
One such player will be the pass rusher Paul Kruger whose new contract demands are close to $9m but more likely $10m due to his impact and demand as a high-impact defensive end.
The Baltimore Ravens are keen on tying up Dannell Ellerbe, writes Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun:
Another team might be the Indianapolis Colts who have former Ravens defensive co-ordinator Chuck Pagano, could see Kruger as a replacement for Dwight Freeney opposite Robert Mathis.

The Baltimore Ravens are keen on tying up Dannell Ellerbe, writes Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun:
It would cost the Ravens a $9.619 million tender to make Ellerbe their franchise player. Ellerbe is coming off a breakthrough season where he recorded 89 tackles and 4 1/2 sacks despite several injuries, and led the Ravens with nine tackles in the Super Bowl. Ideally, the Ravens would like to strike a deal with the athletic former undrafted free agent from Georgia.
Pass rushers are paid handsomely in this day and age, so there will be no shortage of admirers for the versatile defensive end, said salary-cap expert Joel Corry when speaking to Aaron Wilson:
"I think the Kruger market is going to get very expensive, probably more than the Ravens will want or are able to pay. I could see him getting $40 million or so. He's a natural fit for the Colts with the Chuck Pagano connection to Baltimore and them having so much cap room. The Browns are switching to the 3-4 and have over $40 million in cap room, so that's another team he could fit in with."
