Dolphins rumors: Jake Long seeking $11 million annually

The market for Miami Dolphins free agent offensive lineman Jake Long is yet to be determined, but it’s clear that the former top pick wants to continue to be paid like one of the top performers at his position. Long has indicated that he’s seeking a long-term contract with an average annual salary of $11 million, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

Long is currently listed as a left tackle, which is regarded as one of if not the most important positions on the offensive line. However, it’s not clear how long he’ll be able to remain on the left side, as he could ultimately be forced to shift to the position of right tackle.

Long quickly developed into one of the game’s top offensive lineman, but he’s struggled with injuries and inconsistencies over the past two seasons. He’s still only 27 years old, but it’s unclear if teams will be willing to pay him what he’s seeking considering his poor recent track record.
