There has been speculation that the New York Jets could trade
cornerback Darrelle Revis this offseason, but the team continues to say it
hopes to retain the All-Pro long-term. However, a source tells Manish Mehta of
The New York Daily News that the Jets have two or three legitimate buyers for
Revis and that a trade “is happening.”
“He’s gone,” a source familiar with the situation said Tuesday. “This is happening. They’re moving him. They can’t keep him. They’re rebuilding. They’re starting fresh.”
While there is no timetable set on a Revis trade period,
Mehta believes the Jets should move sooner than later. If they don’t, teams
that are now interested in Revis could fill their cornerback needs via free
agency.
The teams that are reportedly interested in Revis, including
the San Francisco 49ers, have already indicated that they’re willing to hand
over high draft choices in exchange for the cornerback.
