The Miami Dolphins are expected to reach an agreement with wide receiver Brian Hartline in the near future, but that won’t stop them from
pursuing free agent Mike Wallace. However, Wallace will be a hot commodity this
offseason, and the Dolphins are specifically expecting to receive competition
for his services from the Minnesota Vikings, according to Jeff Darlington of
NFL.com.
The Dolphins would like to enter the 2013 season with a trio
of wide receivers that consists of Hartline, Wallace and Davone Bess. If they
are unable to sign Wallace, Miami’s No. 2 free agent wide receiver is currently
Greg Jennings.
If the Vikings beat out the Dolphins and sign Wallace, they
may make wide receiver Percy Harvin available in trade. Wallace caught 64
passes for 836 yards and eight touchdowns last season. He has two 1,000
yard-plus campaigns to his name, and he’s viewed as one of the most dynamic
wide receivers in the game.
