Steelers rumors: Pittsburgh, James Harrison discussing contract

The Pittsburgh Steelers are a veteran team facing salary cap issues this offseason. In order to help ease their financial burden for 2013, the team has worked at restructuring deals with several veteran players. Linebacker James Harrison is a candidate for a reworked deal, but he and the Steelers have yet to reach an agreement.

Still, Harrison’s agent Bill Parise told reporters, including Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, that he and the Steelers are working “incredible hard” to nail an agreement out that will be beneficial for both sides. Harrison hopes to retire with the Steelers, and Parise says the linebacker is more than happy to help the team with its salary cap situation.

However, there has been discussion that Harrison is not willing to take a pay cut in 2013. The 35-year-old is set to carry with him a salary cap hit of $10.035 million, a number that’s hard to justify considering his age.
